The history of the RAPIDO Group began in 1948 when Constant Rousseau, cabinetmaker by trade, decided to establish his company in Châtillon-sur-Colmont, France.
In 1958, Constant Rousseau created the first folding caravan for his family. This creation proved decisive in shifting the company's focus. In the 1960s, he perfected his invention, which won several awards (including first prize in the Lépine competition).
When he returned from his summer vacation in Italy in 1961, he had a hunch: inspired by the ease and speed with which the caravan could be set up, he decided on the name "RAPIDO.
